Counterfeit

A few months back, counterfeit notes made headlines in India. According to 'The Times Of India', around Rs. 1,69,000 crore of fake money was in the system (July 2009 article). Counterfeit or fake money is currency that is produced without the legal sanction of the state or government.
There are various methods that are used by banks to discriminate between a counterfeit and an original note. One common method shown even in movies is the use of UV light which makes the silver line on an original note glow, contrary to the fake notes which doesn't.



There was a story I heard of how bankers were trained to identify counterfeit notes. A group of them were brought together for training and were only handed bunches of original notes. Day in and day out they were kept in constant contact with these notes for the next 2 - 3 months. With constant acquaintance came a familiarity to these notes, so much so that after this time period, if they were handed a bunch of notes, they could clearly identify an original and from the counterfeit just by feeling them in their hands.

Many times we encounter "counterfeits" in the things of God. It sounds strange but just think about it... Have our 'worship times' become music - centered ? Have our 'praise sessions' become more about noise and loud music ? If I present you visuals of a 'dance - moves' from a club and a worship - session side by side without audio, will they look similar in nature ? Do we depend on our emotions to an extent where we feel that till a certain level of noise is reached, we will not be anointed or that we haven't worshiped God ? Are we solely inclined on music - styles, lights, sounds, visuals and smoke machines thinking that they help us to commune with God ?

The Bible in Proverbs 20 : 27 (NLT) says... "The LORD's light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive." God is looking at the motive of our heart. If our singing and dancing is based on the music or atmosphere. then we are offering a "counterfeit worship" to God. Because of constant exposure to this, we have forgotten how it is to actually be in God's presence... we have forgotten the real deal. Worship to God now has been reduced to a lot of high decibel music and vociferous singing. And this noise from our worship sessions have successfully drowned out God's voice.

Until we ourselves worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24), how can we lead others into true, unadulterated worship. We in this generation need to bring back God and His word into our worship sessions. We need to get back the original and burn away the counterfeit. Let our worship sessions be drenched with the anointing than with perspiration, let the program sheets be overtaken by the will of God, let the noise of man be replaced by the voice of God, let our smoke machines be replaced quite literally with the Glory of God.

I am not against loud music or media enhancements as long they don't replace your true worship to God. "By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you..." (Ephesians 1:18 AMP)
